1. Academic Readiness.

·California Academic Partnership Program (CAPP); Seamless Transition Project (Tennyson High School – Hayward Unified School District, Chabot Community College and Rohm & Haas).

·Alameda County Office of Education/Bay Area Coalition for Essential Skills low performing schools project with Oakland Unified School District.

·SOAR:Successful Options for Academic Readiness.(CSUH and Oakland Unified School District).U.S. Department of Education Grant.

2. Early Childhood Education.

·America Reads Program:students providing early literacy activities to all Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) children (CSUH Office of Instructional Services).

·The Early Childhood Education Center operating in collaboration with Child, Family and the Community, Inc. (Head Start), CSUH Associated Students, Inc. and CSUH College of Education and Allied Studies.

·Joint federal training grants in Early Childhood Intervention with Dr. Gil Guerin of San Jose State University’s Department of Rehabilitation and Special Education.

3. Educational Leadership.

·Center for Education Leadership Hewlett grant and BASRC grant with Oakland Unified School District, Hayward Unified School District, and West Contra Costa Unified School District.

·Center for Education Leadership League:CSUH, Castro Valley and San Leandro.

3. Educational Leadership (continued).

·Leadership Academy:a partnership with the Department of Educational Leadership, Alameda County Office of Education and participating districts.

·Leading for Equity, Achievement, and Democracy (LEAD):a Tier 1 cohort focused on small schools leadership development in partnership with the Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools (BayCES).

·Preparing Leaders for California Schools:a Partnership Model with the West Contra Costa School District and California State University, Hayward through the CSU Chancellor’s Office.

·Joint Doctoral Program in Urban Educational Leadership with UC Berkeley, San Jose State University and San Francisco State University funded by the CSU Chancellor’s Office and the UC/CSU Joint Ed.D. Board.

4. Physical and Emotional Health.

·A research study:Practice Effect on Arm Movement Control in Alzheimer’s Patients (Alzheimer’s Association).

·Institute for Mental Health and Wellness Education Symposium, cosponsored with the College of Science.

5.Preparation of K-12 Personnel.

·California State University, Hayward’s, Blended Multiple Subject Credential Program, where the Liberal Studies Degree combines with the preparation for an elementary teacher in a four-year undergraduate program.

·West Contra Costa Alternative Certification Program (West Contra Costa Unified School District and CSUH).

·Oakland Alternative Certification Program (Oakland Unified School District and CSUH).

·New Haven Alternative Certification Program (New Haven Unified School District and CSUH).

·Teaching Internship Program of Alameda County – TIPAC.

·Level II special education professional credential programs that require partnerships with school districts throughout the Bay Area.

·Field placement partnerships between CSUH and school districts in the placement of fieldwork and Intern School Psychology Students and in the placement of TED-SPED and Special Education Student Teachers.

·The California Confederation on Inclusive Education, a five-year systems change federally-funded project, shared with San Diego State University, California State – Los Angeles, San Francisco State University, the California Department of Education and 15 partner districts.

·Internshipsin Kinesiology and Physical Education with agencies around the Bay Area.

·Joint personnel prep grant – Low Incidence Severe Disabilities (Federal OSEP grant) with San Francisco State University.

·Aids Education Grant with California State University, Hayward credential students teaching Hayward Unified School District students and Chabot Community College Day Centers.One of four universities selected nationally by the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE).

·California International Teacher Education Program (U.S. Department of Education/Subcontract from CSU Sacramento for CSUH).

·National Research and Training Center on Positive Behavioral Support involving CSUH and five other universities.

·Joint Doctoral Program in Urban Educational Leadership with UC Berkeley, San Jose State University and San Francisco State University funded by the CSU Chancellor’s Office and the UC/CSU Joint Ed.D. Board.

·Coaching, Leadership Education and Restructuring for Inclusive Schools:Federal

model demonstration Project CLEAR (2000-04) with leadership teams from selected pre, elementary, middle and high schools in San Francisco Unified School District and

Oakland Unified School District, mentoring and network development for partner inclusive schools.

·BCLAD Mexico Credential program:a 5-year Office of Education grant. Under a subcontact with Cal State University, Sacramento, to recruit prospective teachers who want to complete their BCLAD credential in Queretaro, Mexico.

·Single Subject Integrated Pathway:an early adoption of SB 2042 for the Single Subject Credential Program.

6.Professional Development (K-12 schools and other careers).

6a.Character Education.

·“Don’t Laugh at Me” (National Character Education Curriculum Project).One of twelve universities in the country selected to participate.

6b.Mathematics.

·*Mathematics Institute (4th-6th grade teacher staff development).

·*Algebra Institute (8th grade teacher staff development) Summer, 2,000 plus 80 hours of follow-up.(*Tom Roby, Mathematics and Computer Science Department.)

6c.Reading/Literacy.

·Support of Secondary School Reading (Grades 7-12) (a partnership with Contra Costa County Office of Education, Alameda County Office of Education, Marin County Office of Education, Napa County Office of Education, San Mateo County Office of Education, Solano County Office of Education and CSUH).

·A research study:investigation of Relationship between African American Language and Culture and Literacy Acquisition and Development.U.S. Department of Education Fund for Improvement of Education.

6d. Science.

·East Bay Biotechnology Education Partnership (EBBEP) serves 90 high school biology teachers in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties (2002-2003).

·PEPSI (Pedagogical Emphasis in Physical Science) – Oakland Unified School District/CSUH grant for Oakland teachers who are being trained in workshops equaling 50 hours.

·NASA grant – A partnership of TED and the Geology Department - a class specifically for teachers.

·BEST (Bay Area Science for Teachers) Institute for two weeks in summer with follow-up during the school year.(The California Science Project Grant.)

6e. Special Education.

·Coaching, Leadership Education and Restructuring for Inclusive Schools:Federal model demonstration Project CLEAR (2000-04) with leadership teams from selected pre, elementary, middle and high schools in San Francisco Unified School District and Oakland Unified School District mentoring and network development for partner inclusive schools.

6f. Technology.

·E-Mission – a program on the Internet that has simulated space missions and offered by the Chabot Space and Science Center together with two CSU campuses, CSU Dominguez Hills and CSU Hayward.

·Techbridge – a grant through the Chabot Space and Science Center that helps girls experience math, science and technology to encourage their understanding and participation in those areas.

·Project Partners:a “Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology” grant in collaboration with New Haven Unified School District and funded by the U.S. Department of Education.Prepares university faculty to incorporate technology in credential program courses and field experience, has created an extensive online library of over 400 tech-inclusive K-12 lessons and six videos of tech-inclusive classrooms to be used in credential program courses.

·A research study:an investigation of the relationship between students’ learning styles and collaboration in the project-based learning with Web authoring.(Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at CSUH.)

6g.Visual and Performing Arts.

·East Bay California Arts Project – a state funded subject matter project for the Visual and Performing Arts, including staff development and special arts projects at schools in Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano and Napa counties.

7. School to Career.

·Bay Area School-to-Career Action Network (BAYSCAN):an organization of organizations that help students make the transition from school to work.

·West Contra Costa School-to-Career Partnership, and cooperative partnership among Laney Community College, CSUH, Hayward, and the non-profit corporation Berkeley Biotechnology Education, Inc.

·Project ACCESS School-to-Career Preservice training grant with CSUH and the East Bay Conservation Core.

8. Teacher Recruitment.

·California School Paraprofessional Teacher Training (a partnership with Hayward Unified School District, Chabot College and CSUH).

·California School Paraprofessional Teacher Training (a partnership with West Contra Costa Unified School District, Contra Costa College and CSUH).

·Community College Teacher and Reading Development Partnerships (Chabot College, Hayward Unified School District and CSUH).

·Integrating AmeriCorps into Teacher and Reading Development Partnerships (Chabot College, Hayward Unified School District and CSUH).

·SABER - a 5-year federally funded program to assist future bilingual teachers from Oakland and West Contra Costa School Districts.

·Teacher Diversity Grant – CSU Lottery funds.Urban Teacher Academy.

·The Teacher Recruitment Project Grant supports the activities of the Urban Teacher Academy.Programs include CBEST Preparation Workshops, the Exploring Education course, classroom field placements, scholarships and high school Teachers for Tomorrow program.

·The Project ACCESS Grant supports candidates who are preparing for the BLCAD Credential through scholarship awards for tuition, books and fees.

·Teachers in Training (TNT) – A California-Texas partnership.A program that assists future bilingual teachers academically and financially, providing advising, mentoring, and test preparation for High School Students in Hayward Unified School District and Ysleta Independent School District in Texas.

·Joint personnel prep grant – Low Incidence Severe Disabilities (Federal OSEP grant) with San Francisco State University.

·Project DREAMS – Developing Reading, English, Language Arts, Math, and Science Teachers.Recruitment of candidates who want to teach in high-need school districts (U.S. Department of Education).
