Joint Doctorate in Urban Educational Leadership

This doctoral degree is intended on developing district level leadership for urban school
districts with a focus on educational equity. The program includes an extensive internship
within a school district as well as university classes and a dissertation study.
Sponsoring Universities: CSU East Bay, San Francisco State, San Jose State and
University of California Berkeley.
Start-up Date: The first cohort of 12 students began in the summer of 2003.
Students will be admitted as a cohort with classes beginning in the summer session.
The next cohort will begin in the summer of 2004.
Cost: Fees will be at the UC Berkeley Graduate Program level. For 2002-2003,
these fees total approximately $2215 per semester for California residents.
Program Requirements: (must be met by the time the program begins)
* Master's Degree
* Current Professional Administrative Credential (Tier II) or comparable certification
* Recent GRE (taken within last 5 years)
