MAGGIE SZABO, Ph.D., Stanford University. During 26 years in public education, Dr. Szabo has been an elementary school teacher, high school teacher and administrator, staff developer, supervisor of curriculum and instruction, and executive director of major school reform initiatives. As a school reformer, Dr. Szabo has directed national, statewide, and Bay Area school reform initiatives.  Her leadership roles include founding Director of the Bay Area Coalition of Essential Schools, founding Executive Director of the statewide California Center for School Restructuring(SB 1274), founding President of the Executive Board of the national Coalition of Essential Schools, member of the California Department of Education High School Task Force.  She is a writer, presenter, and facilitator of processes for school reform. Drawing on theory and best practices in organizational development, leadership, and change, Dr. Szabo's work with educational leaders emphasizes processes for cultural and structural change, teacher collaboration and professional development, and, more recently, educational equity and anti-racist leadership.
