FALL--COHORT CLASS
EDLD 6720 -Using Research to 
Solve School Problems
4 units
During this course students explore research paradigms, learn about the inquiry cycle, identify an issue about school improvement at their work site on which they will collaborate with others in an inquiry process, and begin reading current research related to the topic. Students use the Department Rubric for Bold, Socially Responsible Leadership to identify links between their inquiry, school reform efforts and leadership issues. 
FALL--ELECTIVE*
EDLD 6025 Research Practicum I
2 units
This course will focus on supporting the inquiry work you are doing at your site. Work for this course is done through job alike groups. The intent is to provide you with a forum for exploring your role in collaborative inquiry at your site. Course activities will be done on-line through BB and not require additional class meetings.
Winter-COHORT CLASS
EDLD 6020-Research in Education

Students learn about and develop skill in using qualitative research methods including observation and interviews. They use these methods to gather evidence about the collaborative inquiry process in which they are engaged. Students begin analyzing the data they have collected. In addition, students complete their review of current research on their inquiry topic and synthesize those findings. Students continue using the Department Rubric for Bold, Socially Responsible Leadership to continue their exploration of school improvement and leadership issues. 
WINTER-ELECTIVE*
EDLD 6026 Research Practicum II
2 units
This course will focus on supporting the inquiry work you are doing at your site. Work for this course is done through job alike groups. The intent is to provide you with a forum for exploring your role in collaborative inquiry at your site. Course activities will be done on-line through BB and not require additional class meetings.
SPRING-COHORT CLASS
EDLD 6908-Graduate Synthesis
4 units-
Current pages are Spring 2003--will be updated by 3/04
Students complete the analysis of the data collected during and about their inquiry process. They create a product (e.g., presentation for a staff, school board or professional conference; report; handbook; web page, journal article, etc.) for an audience who should learn about what they have discovered. These master's candidates then present their finding, product and what they have learned about school improvement efforts and their leadership to a panel of CSUH faculty, local school administrators, and incoming research cohort students.
SPRING-ELECTIVE*
EDLD 6027 Research Practicum III
2 units
This course will focus on supporting the inquiry work you are doing at your site. Work for this course is done through job alike groups. The intent is to provide you with a forum for exploring your role in collaborative inquiry at your site. Course activities will be done on-line through BB and not require additional class meetings.
ELECTIVE*
EDLD 6201-Research Seminar
1 unit each quarter-Fall, Winter & Spring
total 3  units
This elective allows master's research cohort students to reflect on what they are learning about inquiry, collaboration, school change processes and their leadership through on-line threaded conversations. The course differs from the Research Practicum (EDLD 6025, 6026 and 6027) in that it focuses more on the individual and support for course assignments (such as sharing suggestions for how to get the most out of interviews) from the main research cohort class.
